Ann Newcomb
Ann Newcomb is a senior at Highland Park High School. She enjoys golfing, being outside, spending time with her friends, sports, and reading. Her favorite part about high school is that it gives students the opportunity to experiment in different subject areas that may be outside of their future plans. While architecture is not her intended plan for the future, she enjoyed the opportunity to learn about architecture and other subject areas that are broader than college may prove to be. Her post high school plans include attending Cornell University College of Engineering. Ann thinks that this project is important to understand the original plans of the city; the Burnham Plan shows impressive foresight for Chicago and a comparison for the way that the city has ended up. She feels that this project was extremely interesting, and the research about the original Burnham Plans was something that she had never been exposed to. This project provided a wonderful opportunity to use modern technology and the history of the city to better appreciate the plans of Chicago, and what has changed since their creation.
